Transfer Requests are accepted throughout the year; however, requests received between September 3 and December 2 each school year receive priority. Students are selected by random lottery. Transportation not provided.                                        


 

Elementary School 

 

Ewing, Leavenworth,SunsetPreschool-6 and Wawona (Pre-school-2)

Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Program.

The ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish!

Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Program fosters bilingualism, biliteracy, enhanced awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity, and develops strong cognitive, social, and emotional identity. Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Program is a challenging academic program, which offers students the exciting opportunity of being bilingual and bi-literate and becoming academically successful in both English and Spanish. The Program brings together students from English and Spanish language backgrounds to learn academic content through instruction in both languages. All students are provided with a standards based curriculum that is focused on bilingual and bi-literate academic achievement.

To achieve the goal of bilingual literacy, long term parental commitment is necessary to ensure that students remain in the program from Preschool through Sixth grade.

Admittance in grades Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kindergarten is based upon a randomized lottery.                                                         

Admittance in grades 1st through 6th, requires space availability and successfully passing a Language Assessment Exam.



Site Based Dual Language Immersion Programs

Site based Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Programs are also available. Resident students may participate in the program.  If the student attends the following schools parents may discuss participation in the program at the school site:

 Calwa (Preschool-1) 

 Centennial  (Preschool-1) 

 Jackson  (K-1) 

 Lane (Preschool-1) 

 Roeding  (Preschool-1) 

 Rowell  (Preschool-2) 

 Vang Pao (Preschool-2) Hmong One Way Immersion Program

        • ​​​The Hmong One Way Immersion Program  is composed of students who come from Hmong speaking homes and Southeast Asian background and English speaking students who are interested in learning the Hmong language. This program follows a 50-50 model, where the languages of instruction, English and Hmong  are used for an equal number of minutes each day. Students are taught to speak, read, and write in English half of the day. During the other half of the day, students are taught in Hmong through integrated Science and Social Studies.  The goal is for participating students to be fully literate in both languages upon completion of grade 6.​


Middle School

Yosemite Dual Language Immersion Program 7-8

High School

McLane Dual Language Immersion Program 9-12
