The Fresno Unified School District has made significant strides in boosting academic achievement of students, but there is much work ahead. The Joint Task Force for School Business Partnerships, which is made up of the Fresno Business Council, Fresno Chamber of Commerce, the Fresno Compact, and State Center Consortium, is working with the district to encourage partnerships that support the work of FUSD schools. Here are some of our community partnerships:
- Career Technical Education: provides a framework for meaningful school-business partnerships
- HandsOn Central California: home to many volunteer programs
- Valley PBS: The Central Valley’s free public television service
There are many ways for businesses to engage with Fresno Unified schools and its students:
- Provide advisory support and program leadership
- Volunteer in the classroom
- Mentor or tutor students
- Teach financial literacy
- Offer teacher externships
- Offer student work-experience options
- Donate or provide scholarships
- Provide labor-market information
- Judge student projects
- Provide part-time or future full-time teachers.
