Students will get Packs of Books for Home Libraries

To support reading over the upcoming holidays and help students expand their home libraries, the district is partnering with Scholastic to provide more than 100,000 books to students in pre-school through eighth grade. The students will receive a pack of five grade-level appropriate, culturally diverse books that are available in English and Spanish. The pack will come with a student literacy skills journal and a “Family Guide to Literacy” to help parents support reading at home. The giveaway coincides with National Family Literacy Month.
This is the fourth Scholastic book giveaway, which have put more than 730,000 books in students’ home libraries.
“One of our district goals is to provide more ways for our families to engage in their students’ education. Thanks to Scholastic’s partnership, we are not only helping our students expand their home libraries but encouraging the entire family to read together,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
