Today, the State made an announcement regarding a timeline to end the indoor mask mandate for K-12 schools. Based on the announcement, Fresno Unified is looking forward to indoor masking requirements ending after March 11th. Our first instructional day without indoor masking requirements for students will be on Monday, March 14th. Until then, we continue to be under the state mask mandate and will ask all students to continue wearing their masks indoors to ensure compliance with the law.

The announcement was unclear as to how this update effects our staff, but we hope that this update will also apply to all staff in Fresno Unified. However, current CalOSHA requirements state that all unvaccinated employees, in any business, must wear masks indoors. We are awaiting clarity from CalOSHA and will update our staff as we receive any updates.

Superintendent Nelson said, “We are thrilled at this move by the state to allow our schools to return to some normalcy and allow our educators to do what we do best, educate and support our children.”
