The district’s Parent University will honor families and community members who participated in the Fresno Police Department’s Residents’ Academy. The free academy meets once a week with the goal of educating Fresno residents about the functions of the Fresno Police Department, including discussions on how the department can assist residents.

Participants of the program meet for 18 weeks. Each session highlights a different police unit, with representatives presenting an overview of their area and its responsibilities. For more information, call (559) 457-3390.

“We are grateful for the Fresno Police Department’s partnership in the Residents’ Academy, and the work it is doing breaking down barriers between our families and the department. This collaboration exemplifies the value we put on people and our community,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
