Fresno Unified School District | Office of Communications | 2309 Tulare Street, Fresno, CA 93721 | (559) 457-3733

With the start of the 2020-21 school year on Aug. 17, the Fresno Unified School District will offer breakfast and lunch at no charge to all students regardless of income levels. Due to school closures, breakfast and lunch meals will be offered on a grab-and-go basis from 7-9 a.m. at 63 school sites.*

The practice supports the district’s efforts to eliminate all barriers to student learning and helps ensure students are not hungry at school while they are learning.

The program is part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an option available to schools under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. The CEP allows high-poverty schools to expand access to free school meals while reducing paperwork and streamlining meal service operation. All school sites within the district are under the CEP.

“The goal of the Food Services Department is to provide nutritious, appetizing meals to help students do their best in school each day, and implementing the CEP helps us meet this goal,” said acting Food Services director Amanda Harvey.
