The eighth annual Edison Region Black History Month Program will be presented virtually by Gaston Middle School and Edison High School Black Student Union (BSU) clubs, in partnership with the district’s Student Engagement Department. The program, with a theme of “Untold Stories,” will feature dancing, singing and dramatic pieces. The program will launch a month of various activities honoring Black History Month, planned by BSU student leaders. One of the goals of BSU is to organize activities and experiences to educate the community about Black culture and history.
BSU students have collaborated with King and Kirk elementary schools, Computech Middle School, Wawona K-8 School, community partners and Purposed II Praise School of Dance.
“Every year, our students and staff in the Edison region bring meaning to Black History Month for our community through their creativity and talent,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
