Video Category

​​Teams of students work collaboratively to design 3D cars, 3D bridges, video games, and interactive infographics.Teams of students create and program original robots to compete in multiple Lego Robotics events.Teams of students produce, direct, and edit Video Ads, PSAs, Documentaries, and Blockbusters.
​3D Derby
Teams of 2-4 students will use a 3D modeling program to design a car and then print it with a 3D printer. Teams will then race their cars at the tournament to see which car is the fastest.
​Lego Robotics - BattleBots
Teams of 2-4 students will create an original robot prior to the tournament day. The tournament is separated into two weight classes, Lightweight and Heavyweight. On the day of competition, they will face off in head to head battles to see who can pop their opponent’s balloon first or push them out of bounds.
Video Production - AD
Teams of 2-4 students will produce a 30 second digital video advertisement for a local business that utilizes positive persuasive techniques.
3D Bridge Design
Teams of 2-4 students will use a 3D modeling program to design a bridge and then print it with a 3D printer. Teams will then test their bridges at the tournament to see which has the best weight to load ratio.
Lego Robotics - Robot C Challenge
Teams of 2-4 students will create a robot, using the EV3 kit provided. On the day of competition, they will write Robot C line code that will allow the robot to navigate a course that will be revealed at the event.
​Video Production - BlockBuster
Teams of 2-4 students will produce a 5 minute (max) short film that includes a setup, conflict, and resolution from any genre (action, comedy, drama).
​3D Useful Object
Teams of 2-4 students will design, prototype and print a useful object with the Makerbot 3D printers.
Lego Robotics - RoboRally
Teams of 2-4 students will create an original robot and program it to autonomously pop a balloon, shoot a missile, and stack/launch a block. On the day of competition, they will face off in head to head battles to see who can score the most points.
Video Production - Documentary
Teams of 2-4 students will research and produce a documentary on an issue, topic, or person of importance to your community.
Kodu Game Design
Teams of 2-4 students will design and program a 5-minute video game that is both fun and challenging using Microsoft’s game design software, KODU.
Lego Robotics - Search & Rescue
Teams of 2-3 students will create a robot that can navigate a blind maze using a live video feed and then find 3 randomly placed objects, remove them from the maze, and drop them into the safety target zone.
Video Production - PSA
Teams of 2-4 students will produce a 2 minute (max) digital video PSA drawing attention to an important local issue and provide factual information in a positive way.
​Website Design
Teams of 2-4 students will create an interactive website design. The website should explain a topic relevant to their school culture and climate.
