We are excited to enter the 2nd year of
Dual Immersion. Because of the Dual Immersion program, we have already seen a
difference in the culture of the students and staff here at Wawona. The
middle school students, of Latin and Hispanic heritage, appreciate that their
culture is being recognized and honored. Our students are building a
collaborative culture by learning from their peers even though their native
languages are different. For example, some of our middle school students are using their native
language skills while reading to the kindergarteners. In the same spirit
of sharing, our kindergarten students dance as part of our school wide celebration of Mexican
Independence Day. Together our students are showing the importance of
unity in our diversity.
all the community support and are grateful for the support in leading our students
to be global learners.
