RHS Dress Code Policy

Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment that inspires our students with the passion, power and skills to make positive life choices becoming architects of their future.  The following dress code applies to both genders and will be enforced at school and at school functions.  This policy was approved by RHS School Site Council May 2014.

Any apparel, hair style, cosmetic or jewelry, even if not specifically mentioned below, which creates a health or safety concern, draws undue attention to the wearer, or tends to detract from the educational process is not acceptable, and may require an immediate resolution.
  • Solid red or royal blue clothing are not allowed, and may not be worn under a different colored shirt.
  • See-through or sexually suggestive apparel which exposes a bare midriff or chest, or clothes that expose the body in a sexually suggestive manner shall not be worn.
  • Underwear-type sleeveless shirts, tube tops, halter tops, and spaghetti straps are not allowed.  Tops must have straps that are at least 3 inches in width.
  • Clothing with sexually suggestive expressions or actions, profanity, violence, obscenity, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or which degrades the integrity of individuals or groups may not be worn.
  • Clothing with Logo/Mascots of colleges or professional sports is prohibited, i.e., Raiders, Cowboys, 49ers, Chicago Bulls, Oakland A's, Dodgers, Miami Heat, Kings, Fresno State Bulldogs, Georgetown Hoyas, Chivas, etc.
  • Racial or Gang related symbols, styles, tattoos, or insignias are not to be worn or displayed, i.e., Bulldog, Georgetown Hoyas attire.  Clothing with pictures of dogs are not allowed.
  • Dresses, skirts, and shorts must be no more than 4" above the knee.
  • Any clothing which poses a safety concern, such as steel-toed boots, chains, items with spikes, etc may not be worn.
  • Baseball caps are not to be worn or visible on campus, with the exception of RHS approved baseball caps.  All caps must be worn in an appropriate manner, and must be removed when inside buildings.
  • All clothing must be neat and acceptable in appearance and worn as traditionally intended.  No baggy, sagging, or oversized or undersized clothing and accessories permitted.  Pants/Shorts must fit around the waist.
  • Shoes must be worn on campus and at school functions.  Flip flops or backless sandals are not acceptable.
  • Radically frayed or altered clothing is not acceptable.
  • Piercings are not to be worn if they pose a safety concern.
  • Sunglasses are not permitted to be worn in classrooms or offices (unless prescribed by a physician).
  • Hairstyles that draw attention to the wearer or detract from the educational process may be required to be fixed.

Every high school student must have in their possession a valid student I.D. card when on campus and at all school functions.

Electronic Use Policy

Cell phones and music devices are not allowed in the classroom, unless permitted by the teacher to enhance the learning environment.  Teacher classroom rules regarding cell phones will be supported.  If a student violates the cell phone policy multiple times, their phone may be confiscated and parents will be required to pick it up.

    In the event that the confiscated cell phone is lost or stolen, RHS will not be held liable for replacement.
