McLane High School will celebrate the new synthetic turf and other improvements at McLane Stadium, beginning with an opportunity for seniors to have breakfast and watch the sunrise over the new turf, followed by games and activities. In the evening, prior to the start of the first home football game, McLane will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony, Superintendent Bob Nelson and board members will take part in a ceremonial coin toss, and the superintendent will sing the national anthem.

Along with the turf installation (a first in Fresno Unified), the district updated infrastructure and utilities at the stadium, added portable restrooms and improved accessibility.

“The beautiful new synthetic turf at McLane Stadium, combined with completion of other playing fields and the new pool coming in January, is a well-deserved boost for Highlander athletics and the entire school,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
