Fresno Unified is partnering with Reading Heart and Every Neighborhood Partnership to place Little Free Libraries book boxes on eight elementary school campuses, starting with one at Heaton Elementary School. High school students built the Little Free Libraries during a summer school Geometry in Construction class. The students will install the Little Free Library on Heaton’s campus following Reading Heart assemblies at 8:45 and 9 a.m.

Little Free Libraries, which can be found across the world, increase reading and a sense of community through the free exchange of books.

“Starting with Heaton, we will install Little Free Libraries in all of our high school regions as another way of encouraging our students to read and share their books. These book boxes are even more special because our own high school students built them,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
