Fresno Unified School District | Office of Communications | 2309 Tulare Street, Fresno, CA 93721 | (559) 457-3733

Fresno Unified’s Nutrition Services looks forward to welcoming students back for the 2022-23 school year with healthy meals, including several new items. Under USDA guidelines, the district will provide meals at no cost to all enrolled students regardless of income levels. This supports the district’s efforts to eliminate all barriers to student learning and helps ensure students are not hungry at school while they are trying to learn.

The program is part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an option available to schools under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. The CEP allows high-poverty schools to expand access to free school meals while reducing paperwork and streamlining meal service operation. Meal applications are not required.

Nutrition Services invites families to use the school meals app.

School Meals App:

An app and interactive website are available for parents and guardians to easily view information on school menus for breakfast and lunch each day. The app features an image and description of food items, as well as nutrition and allergen information. The innovative and interactive web site and mobile app makes school menus more convenient and informative than ever before.

The app can be accessed by searching for “School Menus by Nutrislice” on Google Play or the App Store or visit fresnounified.nutrislice.com.

New Menu Items

This school year, the district is introducing several new menu items, including:

  • Yogurt fruit parfaits
  • Freshly baked whole grain muffins
  • Walking tacos served with bean or beef queso
  • Barbecue beef sandwich on a whole grain hoagie roll
  • Cheeseburgers with USDA certified organic beef patties
  • Organic apples, mandarins, tangerines, nectarines, peaches, plums and pluots

“Our Nutrition Services Department does an outstanding job preparing free morning and lunch meals for our students. Providing healthy, appealing meals goes a long way to helping our students focus on their learning,” said Superintendent Bob Nelson.
