Fresno Unified School District | Office of Communications | 2309 Tulare Street, Fresno, CA 93721 | (559) 457-3733

Yesterday, the district was made aware of some statements posted by an employee of Design Science Middle College High School on a social media platform in 2017 and 2018 regarding immigration and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The posts were published on Twitter.

Members of the community and students have asked the district to take action. Fresno Unified has begun investigating the incident. District support staff, along with the school’s administrative team, will listen to those involved and impacted, providing supports to help repair relationships and identify necessary steps in moving the students and staff forward together. No matter the intent, discrimination, racism and racial insensitivity will not be tolerated in Fresno Unified.

Fresno Unified recognizes that we need to provide an environment in which all our students feel safe. Our schools need to be a safe place for our undocumented youth and their families. We are here to listen, to provide support and to help them achieve their academic and life goals.
