MISSION STATEMENT 

Our mission at the Fresno Unified Transportation Department is to provide safe and reliable transportation for students, ensuring they reach their schools, sporting events, and activity trips daily, all while meeting the educational needs of our students and staff.

OVERVIEW

Our dedicated transportation team works tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. This not only supports their educational journey but also aligns with the broader goals of our District. Daily, we facilitate the transportation of approximately 15,000 students, covering 1.67 million miles annually. Additionally, we play a pivotal role in the success of countless field trips and sporting events, totaling up to 9,383 trips and 255,458 miles annually.

Our fleet consists of 106 buses, with 82 of them running on eco-friendly Compressed Natural Gas and all buses boast the convenience of onboard Wi-Fi.

We are committed to managing the Transportation Department in a financially prudent yet efficient manner. Our ultimate focus remains on putting our Student’s needs first, ensuring they can access their education safely and comfortably.

Lost and Found

We are committed to making sure our students have a good experience on their bus ride to school or home. When a student loses an item we want them to be able to reclaim their items in a timely manner.

With our new policies and procedures regarding lost and found, we hope to make the process of reclaiming items easier. 

For items that are not claimed at the end of every semester, we are partnering with Eco World. Proceeds will be donated to the FUSD Scholarship Fund.

Routing Committee

We are proud of our driver led Routing Committee. Collaboration is key. It’s not just about top-down decision-making; it’s about working together with drivers to find the best solutions. When drivers feel like their input is valued, they are more likely to offer valuable suggestions and innovative ideas that can improve route efficiency.

Regular meetings and feedback are essential tools for fostering this collaborative spirit. By involving drivers in the decision-making process, this hand selected SEIU Routing Committee has identified potential roadblocks and bottlenecks before they become major issues. This proactive approach has helped to ensure smoother department operations.

Sunshine Committee

Shining a spotlight on our Sunshine Committee. This team has been working hard to create a vibrant and inclusive environment for all our valued drivers.

The Sunshine Committee has embraced the important task of bringing joy, positivity, and unity to our driver community. Through their creative events, thoughtful gestures and  fundraising, they have succeeded in brightening up our workplace and fostering a sense of belonging.

Their efforts have not only lifted spirits but have also fostered a deeper sense of camaraderie among our drivers, making our workplace feel more like a family.

The Sunshine Committee’s  willingness to go the extra mile to ensure that every driver feels valued and included is making a positive impact.
