CAC Meeting Minutes September 20, 2023

Welcome and Introductions – Chair Julie Wong welcomed everyone and reminded everyone to respect all views from everyone in the room. 

Roll Call

Ivan Flores, CAC Secretary – Business:  Roll call: 61 Present in person/ 4 online  Quorum: 17 members are present

Previous Months Minutes

August Minutes were not made available but will be available next month.                

Old Business, New Business (Membership) – No old or new business and there was I new application for new membership: Ana Carrillo   Motion to accept: Eileen G./2nd: Cara F. – Yeas: 17 / Nays: 0

Update on Strike: Special Education Patrick Morrison gave an update.

Childcare Updates (Chair Wong):

Criteria for childcare: 

  • Parents must remain on the premises.
  • Sign-up prior to the meeting: A live Microsoft to sign up for childcare is on the CAC page, one sign-up required for each child.  Also, in the childcare area there are paper sign-up sheets available with Kimberly. Fill it out and leave it with her.
  • All children entering the Childcare Area must meet the following criteria.  Children aged 4-12 only. If a child needs to use the restroom the parent will be called.  Childcare sign-out process (leave your number).

Educational Partners Forum (Chair Wong)

E.G – Had issues with a service removal and can’t find the RIM.

P.S. – Wanted to know about the teacher to student ratio and whether there were caps.

Parent stated that there is an Art Hop on 10/5/23 and to call/text 559-313-7540 for more info. 

Parent stated that Special Olympics/Flag Football

Fresno USD Soccer League at Hoover occurred at Hoover Quad area.

Parent stated that she was happy with Addicott staff/second by another parent who loved it there.

The Community Advisory Committee on Special Education, or CAC, invites you to participate in our monthly in-person meeting at Parent University. The address is 850 N. Blackstone Ave., Fresno, CA 93701.

  • Both Spanish and Hmong interpretation will be provided
  • Refreshment will be served. 
  • Childcare will be provided as well. 

We are delighted to offer childcare services during our meeting upon request, catering to children aged 4-12 years old. To ensure we can accommodate your childcare needs during your attendance at our CAC meeting, kindly complete the following Child Care Survey.
