Community Advisory Committee on Special Education Meeting

Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

MINUTES

Start time: 6:02 PM

Welcome and CAC Business: Roll Call was taken and there were 7 members that attended. Quorum was not reached so no CAC business could be done. The approval of last month’s Minutes, Filling of Vice Chair Position, and new members could not be approved.

SPED Department Updates (SPED Management Team): Promotion of Michael Fletcher and Patrick Morrison to Program Manager. Nichole Morales was hired as Project Manager. Dr Virnig shared information on Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPA) and that Legislation Day will held on May 3, 2023. There is a potential of new representation as 1/3 of the Legislature is up for re-election.

Mental Health Supports for Our Students (Job Melton, District Manager II, Social Motional Support)

All About In-Home Supportive Services (Joel Gurss, Program Manager, Fresno County DSS)

Gaggle: What We Need to Know (Julia Picher, District Lead School Psychologist) Educational Partners Forum:

B.C. – Had concerns about the District’s technology use agreement and how parents are notified about Gaggle/monitoring of student use.
