CAC Meeting Minutes October 17, 2023
Wednesday October 17, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m
Start Time: 6:03 PM
Welcome (Chair Wong): Chair Julie Wong welcomed everyone and reminded everyone to respect all views from everyone in the room.
Roll Call & Agenda Approval(Chair Wong): Ivan Flores, CAC Secretary – reported to the CAC Executive Board that he would be unable to attend the meeting tonight. Business: Cara Ford took Roll call: 38 Present in person/ 11 online Quorum: 14 members are present

Previous Months Minutes
June minutes were presented. Motion to accept: Eileen Giron/2nd: Edith Rosemond – Yeas: 14 / Nays: 0
Old Business
New Business & Membership (Chair Wong) No old business and there were no applications for new membership.
New Business: CAC Calendar 2023-2024
Academic Calendar Presentation – Sheryl Weaver FUSD Retiree – Presented two 2 potential calendars for the next two years. The biggest changes are starting/later: 1 week earlier, 1 week later, and when we have winter break.
- Calendar A school starts: August 19, 2024 and ends on June 19, 2025/Winter Break: December 23, 2024 – January 10, 2025
- Calendar A school starts: : August 12, 2024 and ends on June 5, 2025/Winter Break: December 16, 2024 – January 3, 2025
- All members were given an opportunity to vote for Calendar “A” or “B”.
- Voting ballots were picked up and taken by Sheryl Weaver.
Navigating the IEP Process (Jen Dote, Exceptional Parents Unlimited): Ms. Dote provided the CAC members and participants with a PowerPoint presentation on the IEP process.
Special Education Acronyms: Tabled until next month’s meeting.
Educational Partners Forum
Guest Speaker – Nikki Henry Executive Director Of Communication – Ms. Henry provide a Strike Update and fielded questions from CAC members and participants. Of utmost importance was, “What happens to our Special Education ids during the strike?” Ms. Henery stated she did not know specific plans but was there to discuss general education plans.
Closing and Adjournment (Chair Wong): 7:32 PM The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 PM but offered to let Ms. Henery and any parent with questions to continue to stay after and continue the discussion.
