Family Literacy Club

The Family Literacy Club empowers families with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support early literacy development. Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences and strong school-to-home partnerships, the program strengthens foundational reading skills, increases family engagement, and supports improved literacy outcomes for kindergarten students.

Workshop 1: Welcome to K-FSA & Family Literacy Club Family Literacy Club Read Together. Learn Together. Grow Together. Introduces families to the Kindergarten Foundational Skills Assessment (K-FSA) and Family Literacy Club. Families will learn about the importance of early literacy, what student need to become successful readers, and how family engagement supports literacy development at home and school.

Workshop 2: Playing with Sounds (Listening & Rhyming) Helps families develop student's phonological awareness through listening games, songs, and rhyming activities. Families will learn fun and engaging ways to strengthen listening and rhyming skills at home.

Workshop 3: Hearing Sounds in Words Focuses on building phonemic awareness by helping their student hear and identify sounds in spoken words. Families will practice activities that support identifying beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

Workshop 4: Learning Uppercase & Lowercase Letters and Sounds Introduces uppercase and lowercase letters and the sounds they represent. Families will learn strategies and activities to help their student recognize letters, connect letters to sounds, and build foundational reading skills.

Workshop 5: Building Words with High-Frequency Words Supports families in helping their student recognize, read, and use high-frequency words. Families will practice activities that strengthen word recognition, fluency, and confidence in early reading.

Workshop 6: Helping Your Student Become a Reader & Celebration Provides families with practical strategies to support reading development at home by reinforcing skills learned throughout the Family Literacy Club. Families will reflect on their learning, celebrate their progress, and be recognized for completing the program.
