Family Leadership Academy
The Family Leadership Academy empowers families with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to build strong, trusting relationships through engaging learning experiences among families, schools, and communities through meaningful two-way communication, collaboration, and access to resources. By the completion of these workshops, participants will be recognized as Family Ambassadors as they’ve become equipped with the necessary tools to be a successful leader.
Workshop 1: Principal's Vision, Hopes and Dreams
Creates a space for principals and families to come together around a shared vision for student success. The principal will share their vision, goals, hopes, and dreams for the school community, while families participate in interactive activities to identify and share their hopes and dreams for their students.
Workshop 2: Partnering with Teachers for Student Success
Focuses on building strong family-teacher partnerships that support student achievement through meaningful communication, goal setting, and collaboratio
Workshop 3: Advocating for Your Student Achievement
Helps families understand Fresno Unified School District, learn about parent/family rights and responsibilities, and build skills to effectively advocate for their student's academic success.
Workshop 4: Using Data to Support Student Outcomes and School Improvement
Provides families with the knowledge and skills to understand student and school data and use information from tools such as i-Ready, ATLAS, and the California Dashboard to support learning and school improvement efforts.
Workshop 5: Building Collaborative School-Family Partnerships
Empowers families to strengthen home-school partnerships, support literacy development, and work collaboratively with schools to promote student success.
Workshop 6: : Family Leadership in Action & Celebration
Develops communication, advocacy, and leadership skills that empower families to collaborate effectively with school staff, contribute to decision-making processes, and support positive change within their school community. Participants will reflect on their leadership journey and celebrate their completion of the Family Leadership Academy as newly recognized Family Ambassadors.
