All students receive free meals through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). No application is required.

Overview

The Nutrition Services Department supports student success by providing access to nutritious meals through a variety of federally funded programs, including the National School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, After School Snack Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Nutrition Services Programs.

Each school day, Nutrition Services prepares and serves approximately 75,000 meals:

  • 15,800 Breakfasts

  • 47,000 Lunches

  • 3,500 Snacks

  • 9,000 Super Snacks

In addition, the department serves over 237,000 meals during the summer, contributing to a total of nearly 14 million meals served annually. These services are delivered across 108 school sites with the support of 464 dedicated full- and part-time employees.

The Nutrition Services Department offers all meals at no charge to all students regardless of income levels, a policy change that reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that all students receive nutritious meals. This practice further supports the district’s efforts to eliminate all barriers to student learning and helps ensure students are not hungry at school while they are trying to learn. The change is the result of the district implementing g the Community Eligibility Provision, an option available to schools under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Meal applications are no longer required.
