Welcome to the Student Device Resource Hub

This website is designed to help students and families understand how to responsibly care for, use, and maintain district-issued technology. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about device care, expectations for use, fines and fees, and how to get support. Our goal is to make sure every student has access to a reliable device and knows how to keep it in working order throughout the school year.

Elementary Student Laptop Program

Starting in November, elementary students will begin to return their individual laptops and chargers on a rolling, regional basis as our district transitions to classroom-based laptop sets. This change is based on feedback from families and staff and will ensure all students have reliable access to devices during school while reducing lost instructional time.

Middle and high school students will continue taking laptops home. Families are responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged devices, so please report any issues to your school promptly. Please regularly check ParentSquare, your email, and Parent Portal for information about when your student(s) needs to turn in their laptop(s) and charger(s) to avoid a fee.

Device Care and Management

Our district is dedicated to providing students with the necessary resources to support their learning needs. We are proud to maintain a 1:1 ratio, with each student assigned a personal device. However, during this school year, we have seen a significant rise in the number of lost or damaged devices. Here are some helpful tips to maintain your device and keep it safe!

Avoid placing food or drinks near the device.
Carry It Carefully: When moving around, use both hands to carry your device, and keep it close to your body to prevent dropping it.
Clean the Screen Safely: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen. Never use harsh cleaners or spray directly on the screen.
Store It Properly: When not using your device, store it on a flat surface away from edges or where it could be accidentally bumped.
Ask for Help if Something’s Wrong: If the device isn’t working properly, let your teacher know or contact FLATS right away instead of trying to fix it yourself.

Fines and Fees

To ensure students have access to working technology, our district has a Student Device Fines Policy for lost, stolen, or damaged devices. If your child’s device is lost or damaged, a fine may apply to cover the cost of replacement or repair. Fee waivers are available for families who qualify.

How do I pay?
Paying Fines: Fines can be paid at the time of replacement or added to the student’s account. Any outstanding fines must be paid before a student leaves the district.

How do I request a waiver?
Fee Waivers: Families who qualify for financial assistance may request a fee waiver through their child’s school.

What you agree to:

Use devices and the internet for school work only
Treat your device with care - keep it charged & protected
Be kind online - no bullying, hate speech, or inappropriate content
Keep your information private - don't share personal details
Use your own passwords & don't share them
Respect others' work & follow copyright rules
Ask your teacher before using artificial intelligence (AI) tools
Know that your device use can be monitored
