Security Center

The district has many cybersecurity protections in place to prevent our staff and students from being scammed by cybercriminals. However, despite our continued efforts, phishing emails will occasionally get through, and bad actors will continuously test our defenses. Our users play a significant role in defending the district from cyber-attacks. The Security Center website provides you with information to thwart scammers and not lose real money or your personal information. Come back often for updates on current scams and information security topics.

Phishing

Phishing is someone pretending to be someone else to trick you into sharing:

  • Your username and password
  • Sensitive information -such as information about yourself or others, information about the organization, or financial information.
  • Your personal banking information or asking you to purchase gift cards.

Phishing is the #1 cause of data breaches, identity theft, and people and organizations lose real money. To break this scam down even further, it is a form of social engineering, which is the practice of deceiving people for gain.
