The Classified Development Department is dedicated to providing high quality learning and growth opportunities to Classified Professionals. Professional learning is provided using research based strategies in order to progressively develop the skills and abilities of each employee to ensure that all are able to achieve excellence in their roles. It is this excellence that will enable all employees, regardless of position or title, to help prepare college and career ready graduates.

Classified Professional Learning
Clerical
Our clerical employees serve our staff and students in a variety of locations throughout our district. These invaluable employees provide support, exemplary customer service, enrollment of students, as well as providing clear and timely information to all our stakeholders. We support their growth by providing professional learning via job-alike trainings, aspiring office manager cohorts, and professional office assistant classes (www.fas.edu) just to name a few.
Custodial
Custodial employees ensure that our schools and facilities are safe, clean, and free from potential hazards. All of our employees are provided with job-embedded professional learning, along with opportunities to participate in courses that will help them move along the career ladder. Food Services
On a daily basis, our food service employees prepare and serve 24,000 breakfasts, 55,000 lunches and over 8,000 snacks to our students. From food service technicians to food service managers, our Classified Professional Learning Department provides on-going, job-embedded professional learning. Managers & Supervisors
Our Classified Development Department provides opportunities and support for aspiring, new, and existing leaders. The Fresno Unified leadership standards provide the framework for the professional learning provided. Our work is to create a pipeline for classified employees to develop leadership capacity, to be successful in informal and formal roles. Paraprofessional
In order to support our students with moving a minimum of one grade level per year, our team of over 800 Paraprofessionals & Paraeducators are present in our campuses, classrooms, libraries, computer labs and more. Our Classified Professional Learning Department provides job-embedded training of skills and content based learning, to support current work or to prepare them to move to the next level.
School Bus Drivers
Fresno Unified currently employs over 100 school bus drivers. All school bus drivers are provided professional learning opportunities that are designed to support their current work and maintain certification or to prepare them to move to the next level. If interested in becoming a school bus driver, courses are offered at Fresno Adult School.
