Spanish Dual Language Immersion

The goals of the program are bilingualism and biliteracy, sociocultural competence, and academic achievement in both languages.

In a 90-10 instructional model, students receive 90% of their instruction in the target language starting in preschool throughout 1st grade. Then, the amount of English instruction increases at each grade level until students receive 50% of their instruction in each language in the 4th grade. Starting in 7^th grade, students receive 30% of their instruction in the target language (equivalent to 2 courses).

Our district-adopted programs in English for all content areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and History Social/Science offer a Spanish language option.

Teachers in the Dual Language Program make the information meaningful through the use of visuals, objects, gestures, and specialized instructional strategies.
