Overview
The mission of the Department of English Learner Services Multilingual & Multicultural Education is to provide schools with high-quality instructional support, guidance, and direction to ensure the academic success of multilingual learners. This includes supporting the implementation of research-based instructional strategies and district-adopted resources to meet the diverse needs of English Learners across programs such as Designated and Integrated ELD, Dual Language Immersion (DLI), newcomer supports, and migrant education.
English Learner Services Multilingual & Multicultural Education also promotes meaningful family engagement as a critical component of student success by supporting structures such as the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), English Learner Advisory Committees (ELAC), and fostering welcoming, inclusive environments for English Learners and their families.
