About Preschool
Fresno Unified School District offers a preschool program for all children who turn three or four years old by December 1st of the school year in which you are enrolling and live within the Fresno Unified School District. Children who turn three years old after December 1st may enroll in a preschool program on or after their 3rd birthday. Find the school closest to your home by clicking here: School Locator. For information on how to register, visit: Enrollment.
Families can choose from part-day or full-day options. Dual immersion programs are also offered for three and four-year-olds.
Your child will be in a warm and nurturing environment that focuses on social-emotional health, oral language development, early literacy, early math, and visual arts. All of our classes are aligned with the California Preschool Learning Foundations. These foundations guide us in creating playful, purposeful teaching that helps children gain knowledge and skills. We assist each child in moving along a pathway of healthy learning and development.
“My child loves coming to school. Whatever the teacher is teaching, he will tell us about it at home.“
Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Programs
FUSD Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs provide children the opportunity to learn in two languages, Spanish and English, or Hmong and English. DI Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs are offered at various sites throughout the district.

Inclusion Programs
FUSD Early Learning and Special Education partner in supporting sites that offer inclusive preschool and Transitional Kindergarten settings. An inclusion program educates children receiving special education supports and services and their non-disabled peers together in the general education classroom. There are many benefits to participating in an inclusive classroom, which include, but are not limited to peer models, fostering social and emotional development skills, respect for others, and increasing access to the environment and curriculum. The determination for placement in an inclusive setting is based on the outcome of a team decision during the child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting.
