Peer Mentoring Program
Our Mission
The mission for Fresno Unified School District Peer Mentoring Program is to create positive peer relationship that will provide social emotional and academic support to student to increase their engagement and success in school.
What is Peer Mentoring?
Peer Mentoring Program is an afterschool program that matches successful students with middle school students (feeder schools) or young high school students in a peer relationship. Students meet one day a week after school at the middle school.

- Intrapersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
Program Objectives
- Provide Positive Role Models
- Provide Academic support through tutoring and modeling
- Encourage team building and leadership development
- Provide an environment that would encourage transparency and honesty
- Provide support and resources to help students adjust academically and socially to the school
How to become a Peer Mentor
Students (Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors) interested in becoming a Peer Mentor must contact the designated Peer Mentor Facilitator at their High School to confirm availability and complete an application. Students can also contact the Fresno Unified Mentor Office at (559) 457-6062 for additional information or to obtain a list of Peer Mentor Facilitators at school sites.
How to refer a student (Mentee)
Students interested in participating in the Peer Mentor Program at their Middle School must contact the designated Peer Mentor Facilitator. Students will be required to obtain Parent/Guardian consent prior to acceptance and participation in the program. Students and Parents can also contact the Mentor Office at (559) 457-6062 for additional information or to obtain a list of Peer Mentor Facilitators at school sites.
