What Are Restorative Practices?
Fresno Unified believes that restorative practices are principles and processes used by ALL members of the learning community to:
- Build and affirm healthy and caring relationships
- Repair harm and restore relationships through accountability and voice; and
- Restore individual and collective safety and belonging
What We Do
Fresno Unified’s Restorative Practices Team is comprised of 23 Restorative Practices School Counselors and a Restorative Practices Teacher on Special Assignment. Here are some examples of the work we do:
- Facilitate Repair Circles, Mediations, and Re-entry Circles of Support
- Facilitate Listening & Problem-Solving Circles
- Provide Tier II Social Emotional Counseling
- Coach on Relationships & Conflict Resolution
- Support Peer-based Peacemaking Programs
- Support the Shift to Restorative & Positive Discipline
