Seal of Biliteracy
The California State Seal of Biliteracy is marked by a gold seal affixed to the diploma or transcript and recognizes high school graduates who have achieved a high level of proficiency in one or more language(s) in addition to English.

Recognition:
It recognizes students who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language.

Students must demonstrate proficiency in both English and another language through various assessments and coursework.

The program was established in 2012 through Assembly Bill 815.
