Latinx Student Unions Program

Latinx Student Union Program

The Latinx Student Unions (LSU) were created to guide and support the large number of Latinx students across the district. The program actively supports the annual Latinx High School Celebración organized by our partners at the Educational Leadership Foundation and Youth Leadership Institute; assists in providing consistent resources and adult-youth partnership training to our Latinx Student Union advisors at our secondary sites, and offers programs to all students in the district that assist with College and Career Readiness and Leadership/Life Skills. All programs and services offered by LSU are available to ALL students at Fresno Unified and delivered by the resources available to the LSU Program.

history of the Latinx high school celebración

This celebration was started in 2023 thanks to a group of students from Edison High School, in collaboration with Ms. Ibarra and the Youth Leadership Institute. They recognized the importance of honoring the cultural identity and achievements of the many Latinx graduates in the Fresno Unified School District. LSU student memebers are invited to be active members of the planning committee, alongside Fresno Unified staff and community partners.
