Edison High School
Edison High School offers multiple CTE pathways. From health care careers to careers in creative arts or engineering, there are a wide array of options available to Edison students to discover their passion and find a career they enjoy.
CTE Pathways
Biomedicine
A NAF Certified Academy and Linked Learning pathway nationally recognized in STEM education broadening students’ understanding of the careers and collegiate majors associated with the medical field. Students can earn certifications related to health fields and are able to obtain college credits through dual enrollment.
Biomedicine: Kinesiology
A 2-year patient care program that emphasizes instruction in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. Students explore the science of human movement, including anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and motor learning. Through a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on activities, students study how the body functions during physical activity, the principles of exercise and fitness, and how to prevent and rehabilitate injuries. This program emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and prepares students for careers in health, sports, or fitness-related fields.
Engineering Design and Development
A Linked Learning pathway emphasizing project-based learning through hands-on courses in CADD (Computer Aided Drafting and Design), Electronics, Robotics, and Manufacturing. This series of courses exposes students to the methods used by professional engineers, using advanced math and science concepts to identify problems and engineer solutions.
Green Energy Academy
A California Partnership Academy providing skills and knowledge in the Energy and Utilities industry. Students learn basic energy principles and advanced electronics in preparation for careers in the growing alternative energy industry. Through partnerships with PG&E and GRID Alternatives, students participate in work-based learning experiences such as internships and earning solar certifications. All students receive OSHA-10 certifications before graduation.
Computer Science
A NAF Certified Academy four-year sequence of courses focusing on object oriented programming, scripting, and web and application design. Students use their creativity to effectively design, develop, and implement software projects. Students explore big ideas such as various programming languages, developing efficient algorithms, integrating information from multiple disciplines, and participating in the online programming community. Classes emulate the real world by challenging students in soft skills such as project management, communication, teamwork, and public speaking. By the end of the program, students will have curated a digital portfolio of work samples to show future employees.
Digital Photography
A 2-year program that focuses on the history and development of photography while equipping students with the skills to thrive in the photography industry. Students learn camera operations, lighting techniques, editing software, and business practices, preparing them for careers as professional photographers, photo editors, or freelance artists. Courses align to the Visual and Performing Arts standards. Certification opportunities related to this industry are available.
Technical Theater
A 2-year program that focuses on all things involved in running a theater - from props, to lighting, to stage management. Students explore the behind-the-scenes magic that brings a stage production to life. Students learn about set design, lighting, sound, props, and costumes, gaining hands-on experience with the tools and techniques used in theatre production. From building sets to operating lighting and sound boards, the program focuses on creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Technical Theater offers the skills and knowledge to transform creative visions into compelling live performances.

Video Production
A 2-year program. Videography is designed to provide students with the technical instruction and practical experiences for aspiring video and film makers in the production of film, video, and new media projects for business and entertainment. The second course, Cinematography, will be offered in 2025-26 school year.
Teacher Academy
Teacher Academy develops and supports high school students through their journey of becoming quality educators. It exposes students to a career in education by offering real-world learning opportunities that allow students to learn through meaningful work-based experiences including internships, employment, and/or school-based enterprises. This program outlines the steps to becoming a successful educator and provides a clear bridge to employment. By participating in the Teacher Academy program, students:
- Can earn college units
- Are eligible for a position as a paraprofessional with FUSD upon high school graduation
- Gain field experience working with children
- Participate in community service learning
- Have an opportunity to take the NCLB and CBEST exams
- Receive priority consideration for Fresno Unified’s Pipeline to Teaching Programs
