Prepare for a career in Emergency Response, Legal Practices, or Public Safety.

Students at the 2023 First Responder Summer Camp spent a week with local partners including Fresno PD, Fresno Fire, and National University learning about careers as first responders and earning certifications in CPR and Stop the Bleed.

Overview

Pathways in the Public Services sector prepare graduates to work in public service as firefighters, lawyers, judges, criminal investigators, EMTs, and more.

Students may have the opportunity to receive college credit and industry recognized certifications as well as participate in paid and unpaid internships

CART Labs

CART is a college and career prep, half-day program for juniors and seniors in Clovis and Fresno Unified School Districts. Labs offer hands-on and industry standard methods for students to investigate and acquire a variety of skills. CART offers two labs in the Public Services sector.

Forensic Research and Biotechnology Lab

Students use hands-on, investigative science techniques to solve intriguing problems connected to crime and the law. Interactive physical evidence simulations include topics such as: DNA/biotechnology, fingerprinting, ballistics, and scene reconstruction.

Law and Order and Policy Lab

Students study the major aspects of constitutional, criminal, and civil law. Projects teach students about their individual rights, criminal procedure, how laws are made, and how to make a legal argument. Students learn how to research and discuss current and historical controversial issues relating to the law. All students have the opportunity to participate in mock trials and field trips to local and federal courthouses and law firms.

Law and Public Safety Education Network (LAPSEN) National Accreditation is a high school accreditation process designed to recognize and promote exemplary Law and Public Safety (LPS) programs. Accredited programs demonstrate competencies across several standards in the course of a year and receive a “stamp of excellence” which represents the apex of program quality.
