CART | Environmental Science and Field Research Lab | Students will carry out hands-on projects relating to careers in marine biology, wildlife rehabilitation, air quality, river ecology, alternative energy, and forests. Students will have the opportunity to work with environmental professionals and government agencies to complete scientific projects. Some examples are growing native plants, restoring native wildlife habitats, rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife species, monitoring forests, experimenting in wetlands and conducting studies of tide pools and beaches. |

Digital Media and Graphic Design Lab |
Digital Media and Graphic Design Lab: Students develop skills in communication and message design including color, typography and design principles. They investigate graphic and web techniques in cooperative teams similar to corporate settings. Design students will work on all stages of production using industry-standard software (i.e. Adobe CC) to create original products such as logos, posters, newspapers, advertisements, websites and two-dimensional animation. Digital Video Production and Broadcasting Lab: Students develop skills in television and film production. Using industry-standard software packages (i.e. Adobe CC), students will engage in hands-on, integrated curriculum. They work on all stages of production while creating products such as short films, advertisements, journalism broadcasts, and documentaries. All multimedia students develop skills in the content and presentation of message design, the sociological impacts of media, and the stages of the production cycle. Interactive Game Design Lab: Students learn about graphic design, animation, modeling, gameplay and story design while working in teams to create original games and characters rendered in 2D and 3D. Students are introduced to industry standard software such as 3D Studio Max, Unity 3D, Construct 2, and have the opportunity to learn HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript programming skills. |

Technical Theater covers design basics of set, props, costumes, make-up, lights, sound, stage management, box office, house management and Technical Theater careers. Edison also offers standalone Digital Photography and Videography courses. |
Farber | Multimedia and Video Production | Students will learn how to write public service announcements/television commercial scripts, and film, edit, and produce their videos using professional equipment and software. From creating documentaries to filming music videos, students get hands-on experience with the entire production process. |

Working with the latest in industry standards for video and photography, students will apply techniques from the latest software and produce content that prepares them for college and career. |

Working as individuals and in small teams, students design, test and evaluate working prototypes of their solutions. Students will learn how to bring engineering designs into the physical world using a variety of engineering tools, skills, and practices including cutting edge CAD and CAM solutions. CNC Machines, 3D Printers, and Laser Cutters are just a few of the technologies that will be used to manufacture student-engineered design solutions. Students will be introduced to basic electronics, microcontrollers and computer programming while learning to design, build, and program robotic and automation devices. |

Biomedicine: Students explore issues in medical science and human anatomy/physiology through their involvement in dissections, medical case studies and research projects. Students investigate how a healthy body functions and how it reacts to disease. Students collaborate with medical professionals at various hospitals and clinics in the Fresno/Clovis area as they research a variety of medical topics. Biotechnology: Students explore biotechnology, an exploding science field that leads to high-paying jobs in medicine, biology, chemistry, agriculture, and environmental science. Students apply DNA technology to genetically engineer bacteria, solve medical mysteries, clone tissues, diagnose genetic disease, and explore drug development and testing. Students wrestle with difficult ethical issues that arise as a result of using biotechnology to solve problems. |

By graduation, students have the opportunity to become certified in different medical pathways such as Nursing (Certified Nursing Assistant) and Rehabilitation Therapy Aid. Specialized pathways are offered in Nursing Services, Pharmacy Technician, and Rehabilitation Therapy. |

Doctors Academy: A career-oriented and academically rigorous program in partnership with UCSF Fresno, with the primary goal of supporting students who aspire to be health professionals by introducing them to a series of medical topics, college and health workshops, guest speakers, and various other components that will support them in their medical career. |

User EXperience (UX) Design Lab; Web Application Development Lab |
User EXperience (UX) Design Lab: User EXperience Design focuses on the processes of designing a product’s interface and function. Companies like Apple and Google employ teams of highly specialized UX professionals charged with carefully crafting a product’s usefulness, usability, and desirability. Students in the UX Design lab learn to create innovative, equitable, and user-centered experiences for the digital world. Through interactive, hands-on experiences UX students will learn to realize innovative concepts, evaluate a design’s usability, and deliver functional prototypes. Students will learn how to apply psychology, user-centric design thinking, wireframing, interface design, storyboarding, visual design theory, and prototyping skills. Web Application Development Lab: Students go beyond being a user of technology and become certified to design, develop, and deploy Rich Internet Applications, websites, and games using Web 2.0 developer tools such as Java, SQL, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. They will learn the foundational skills of object-oriented programming, web design, database design, scripting, and graphical user-interface design to ensure that end-users have a positive experience and return again and again to the applications. Certifications through Microsoft, Adobe, and CIW are available. |

Forensic Research and Biotechnology Lab: Students use hands-on, investigative science techniques to solve intriguing problems connected to crime and the law. Interactive physical evidence simulations include topics such as: DNA/ biotechnology, fingerprinting, ballistics, and scene reconstruction. Law and Order and Policy Lab: Students study the major aspects of constitutional, criminal, and civil law. Projects teach students about their individual rights, criminal procedure, how laws are made, and how to make a legal argument. Students learn how to research and discuss current and historical controversial issues relating to the law. All students have the opportunity to participate in mock trials and field trips to local and federal courthouses and law firms. |

Automotive: Students in this pathway become highly-skilled automotive technicians trained to repair, service, and maintain vehicles. Qualified students can earn real-life experience through internships at local dealerships and auto shops. Students have the opportunity to earn several industry certifications, including Safety and Pollution Prevention Training (S/P2), OSHA-10, various Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) student certifications, and recognition as a Valvoline Certified Technician. College credit is also offered in higher level courses. This pathway is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Heavy Truck: Students in this pathway learn maintenance and repair of heavy diesel trucks and diesel equipment in a one-of-a-kind, state of the art facility. Students can real real-life experience through internships at local dealerships and diesel repair shops. Students have the opportunity to earn several industry certifications, including Safety and Pollution Prevention Training (S/P2), OSHA-10, various Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) student certifications, and recognition as a Valvoline Certified Technician. College credit is also offered in higher level courses. |

Students work in a real world, industry standard 10,000 square foot warehouse that will emphasize a professional environment including operations equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, inventory and fulfillment software), safety equipment, uniforms, and roles and responsibilities. |
