American Fidelity

Using pre-tax dollars for eligible health care expenses is a great way to keep money in your pocket.  One way to reduce your annual spending is to setup pre-tax premium payments with American Fidelity for your medical, dental, and vision monthly premiums. Section 125 of the IRS tax code allows you to convert a taxable cash benefit (salary) into non-taxable benefits, primarily through flexible spending accounts (FSAs).

An FSA lets you pre-tax up to $8,200 ($3,200 HCFSA max + $5,000 DDC max) to cover eligible health care and dependent care expenses for yourself, your spouse and any eligible dependents.  We invite you to review the Benefits Information Guide for more details on what’s covered and the enrollment process. You may also click on the brief video from American Fidelity – the District’s FSA administrator - for a one-minute overview of the plan offerings.

You have 31 days from your benefit eligibility date to enroll in this coverage, otherwise you will only be able to enroll/re-enroll during the annual open enrollment period. Make a note to schedule an appointment with their advisors to learn more about these offerings.
