Home Hospital Instruction
Who is Eligible to enroll?
A student in Fresno Unified School District who is:
- Homebound for more than three weeks with a temporary disability due to illness, condition, or injury as verified by the student’s physician, psychiatrist, or psychologist.
- Currently residing in a health facility, and a treating physician is requesting HHI.
What is Home Hospital Instruction?
The Home Hospital Instruction (HHI) Program serves students who incur a temporary disability, due to illness, condition, or injury which makes attendance in the regular day classes or an alternative education program impossible or inadvisable. HHI placement is not guaranteed, therefore, the school administrator may refer students with chronic or long-term conditions to alternative education placement. HHI is the most restrictive educational environment for a student, so it is always chosen as the last option.
What is the application process?
New 2024-25 Applications for Home Hospital Instruction will be available from your school site after August 14th 2024.
For further details or questions please contact ERC department at (559) 253-5385.
How much instruction time will my student receive?
HHI is an intensive, in-home, one on one instruction. Students receive five hours of instruction per week during the academic school year. One hour = one full day of school.
