Graduation Edition of “Faces of Fresno Unified” Digital Magazine Highlights the Class of 2024

The graduation edition of Fresno Unified’s digital magazine, “Faces of Fresno Unified,” is now available. This latest edition of the magazine celebrates the achievements of the Class of 2024, recognizing valedictorians and Fresno Unified Scholarship recipients from all of the district’s high schools. In the pages of the magazine get to know a little bit about:

§  Roosevelt High School scholarship recipient Allanah Everk, whose chaotic home life often kept her from attending school. She didn’t learn to read until the third grade but has since blossomed into an excellent student, musician and leader. She will attend Fresno State to be a teacher so she can help students who struggle with reading and math, like she did.

§  Duncan Polytechnical High School valedictorian Bryan Flores, whose interest in the welding pathway at Duncan led him to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering at U.C. San Diego and a career in the manufacturing industry. His parents, immigrants from El Salvador, are his biggest cheerleaders.

§  Sunnyside High School scholarship Nancy Her, who wants to become a successful user experience website designer and provide a better life for her parents, refugees from Laos and Thailand. She also wants to create a safety and mental health support app for Fresno Unified students, parents, staff and families. She will attend UCLA.

“This beautiful magazine has once again reminded me of the extraordinary abilities, resiliency and achievements of our students, and the role that our teachers and staff play in helping our students succeed,” said Interim Superintendent Misty Her.
