Foundation for Fresno Unified Schools Receives Grant
for Student Mental Health Initiatives
The Foundation for Fresno Unified Schools has been awarded a $25,000 grant from Community Health Systems that will be used to explore student mental health needs with an emphasis on engaging students in the process.
A portion of the Community Health Systems grant will be used to analyze student mental health resources and access points throughout Fresno Unified in collaboration with DoSomething Strategic. This analysis will involve extensive student participation through focus groups and a student advisory committee.
“I look forward to seeing the results of this analysis of our students’ mental health needs, made possible by the Community Health Systems grant. It will guide and inform our efforts to better support our students,” said Interim Superintendent Misty Her.
Wendy McCulley, Executive Director of the Foundation stated, "Through the grant awarded by Community Health Systems, we will be able to conduct a comprehensive landscape analysis of student mental health resources within Fresno Unified and our community. This will allow us to identify and enhance access points for mental health support, ensuring our students receive the resources they need.”
