Every Tuesday of a full 5-day school week will be an early release day for all students. To help you plan accordingly, please refer to the academic calendar for details on these early release days. Additionally, each school has a unique bell schedule, so we encourage you to check your school's website for the specific times applicable to your child. For families enrolled in our afterschool program, please note that it will start directly after the early release period on Tuesdays. We have also adjusted bus schedules to accommodate this new early release schedule. This change is designed to provide our teachers with essential time for planning, professional development, and increased engagement with parents and families. We believe this will greatly benefit our educational community.

Q: When are early release days?

A: Every Tuesday during regular weeks with five days of school.

 

Q: Is the early release day different for different schools?

A: All schools in the district have early release on Tuesdays, expect for Design Science. Design Science has early release on Fridays rather than Tuesdays because their students take courses at Fresno City College. Additionally, the early release schedule does not apply to the Child Development Center or Preschool programs as the hours of the programming must adhere to the state contract guidelines. 

 

Q: What time is early release?

A:  As it varies slightly from school to school, please check with your school.

 

Q: Is there after school program on early release days?

A: For students who signed up for the after school program, the start time is adjusted for the after school program.

 

Q: Will the buses run early on early release days?

A: Yes. More information about the bus schedule can be found on our school’s website at fresnounified.org.

 

Q: Why do we have early release every Tuesday?

A: In October 2023 when the Fresno Teachers Association and the district reached a new contract agreement, the agreement included more time for teachers to engage in professional learning during their workday. Early release every Tuesday provides this time for meetings and other forms of professional learning.

 

Q: Does this early release schedule apply for preschool?

A: Early Release does NOT apply to the Child Development Center or Preschool programs as the hours of the programming must adhere to the state contract guidelines.
