 T.E.A.M. Magnet

The Hoover T.E.A.M. (Technology Electronics Architecture Manufacturing) Engineering Magnet includes three different academies:
 

Technical Design

Core Course Sequence

  Introduction to Technology (9th Grade)

  Principles of Technology (10th Grade)

  Technical Drafting & Design (11th Grade)

  Engineering Drafting & Manufacturing (12th Grade)

 

The Technical Design Academy will focus on design and manufacturing. The program will teach problem-solving skills using a design development process. Models of product solutions will be created, analyzed and produced using modeling computer design software.

 

Electronics Technology

Core Course Sequence

  Introduction to Technology (9th Grade)

  Electronics (10th Grade)

  Computer & Network Technology (11th Grade)

  Video Security Design (12th Grade)

 

The Electronics Technology Academy will focus on electronics, integrated digital systems and security systems. This program is being developed in collaboration with Fresno County Office of Education and Pelco, an international video security firm based in Fresno.

 

Architectural Engineering
Core Course Sequence
  Introduction to Technology (9th Grade)
  Art Principles, Design, & History (10th Grade)
  Architectural Drafting & Design (11th Grade)

  Architectural Engineering Design (12th Grade)


The Architectural Engineering Academy will expose students to career opportunities in structural engineering, architecture, environmental design, graphics and other related fields. Students will develop an understanding of architecture and construction management.

 

Advisory
T.E.A.M. Magnet students will participate in advisory curriculum that will include career/college planning, employability skills, study skills, note-taking strategies, development and maintenance of four-year plans, and individual academy portfolios.

Common Academic Courses

T.E.A.M. Magnet students will be enrolled in common core academic requirements as grade level cohorts. For example, as their schedules allow, 10th graders will have common English, science, & social science classes.

Tutoring
All T.E.A.M. Magnet students will receive support and mentoring by undergraduate and graduate students from CSUF through the MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement) program and MESA competitions.
Summer academy

All T.E.A.M. Magnet students will have access to a summer Engineering Academy jointly sponsored by Fresno Unified School District and California State University Fresno (CSUF) School of Engineering.

Preparing career ready graduates
The T.E.A.M. Magnet will prepare students for higher education and careers in graphic arts, drafting, manufacturing design and production, digital systems and security, computer-aided manufacturing, electronics, computer and network technology, and the design process as it relates to architecture.
Real world experience
All T.E.A.M. Magnet students will participate in projects and activities related to these careers including mentoring, job shadowing, and
study trips.
