If the district is really thinking about "reaching" or educating the students, they need to restructure the curriculum. What they ought to do is bring in "tools" students are using. For example in Germany, using the video game guitar hero, a playstation 2, a computer, and iphone, they created a high school course around it. They learned music, geography, art, oral communication, and writing. Imagine students developing a game over 2 years in teams of 4. They would learn brainstorming, cooperation, oral communication, computer language, game play, coloring, art, and other things in developing a game. Wow. Or how about students who want to create their own band. Why can't they create an album? All they would need is access to some instruments and an apple computer. What about becoming a doctor? Why not teach students how to create new applications for the iphone that is needed in the medical field or have students use the applications that have already been created? You see, this restructing of the curriculum is endless, if you just bring in what kids are using today.

Why is the district not supporting apple computers? Its been written in several places how less often they crash, plus they come with software that students can use to create movies, songs, or podcast right out of the the box. And the best part about it is, they are easy to use.
