The Fresno Unified Transportation Department operates a fleet of 97 school buses, 12 of the buses are CNG. The district transports approximately 9,500 students to and from school daily with a total of 1.2 million miles. In addition, we provide busing for a variety of field trips and sporting events throughout the school year. This equal almost 6,000 field trips and an additional 417,000 miles.
The transportation staff works very hard to provide a safe means of transportation for our students, which in turn helps to support our District’s daily ADA district funding.
We are also working toward increasing our clean air bus fleet. We now have a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in place. The last 8 out of the 12 newly acquired CNG buses are equipped with a passenger restraint system as well as air-conditioning.
In conclusion, we strive to run the district’s Transportation Department in the most economically sound, yet efficient manner possible. It is our goal to always "Put children first!"
