Welcome to Fresno Unified School District's E-rate year 12 Information site. |

Fresno Unified School District has participated in the Federal E-rate program since its inception more than ten years ago. The E-rate program is administered by the schools and libraries division of the Universal Services Administrative Corporation. This program provides school districts and libraries with subsidy funding for telecommunications and internet services. The amount of funding is based upon the percentage of students participating in the free and reduced lunch program, which is a measure of the poverty level of a given district.

link: RFP E12001: Multiyear contract for E-rate Eligible Wireless Telephony and Data Services ("Cell Phone Services")
This RFP is a multi-year contract (two years, with an optional one-year extension) for mobile telephone services. The District currently has a three year contract with Sprint/Nextel that terminates on June 30th, 2009. Today, our staff relies heavily on mobile devices for email and push-to-talk capabilities, in order to provide safe, responsive service to our students and parents. We also use Microsoft Sharepoint Services, and we envision the use of mobile data entry and retrieval via mobile browsers in the coming year.
Our long term goal with mobile telephony is to take advantage of fixed-mobile convergence capability that is becoming available in newer mobile handsets, in order to leverage our extensive 802.11 wireless network for realizing cost savings for internal calls. We also want to leverage our Microsoft Systems Center tools to manage the pool of mobile handsets that we will acquire under this contract.

This RFP is a multi-year contract (two years, with an optional one-year extension) for basic maintenance (8x5 NBD) for Avaya VOIP PBX equipment, and also Cisco SmartNet Basic Maintenance (8x5 NBD) for Cisco switches, routers, VOIP, and other equipment. Background: FUSD has a fiber-optic and T-1 based network spanning 107 school sites over approximately 50 square miles, as well as an extensive 802.11a/b/g wireless network. We are in the process of phasing out remaining T1 circuits that are used for telephony. We currently have four generations of telephone PBX systems. Bidders are welcome to bid on either or both components of this RFP (the Avaya VOIP PBX portion and/or Cisco Smartnet Basic Maintenance) of this RFP.
