Over 420 students from fifteen Fresno Unified Middle Schools competed in the Second Annual Tournament of Technology on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Bullard High School in Fresno. This annual engagement provides an opportunity for teams of 7th and 8th grade students to demonstrate their technology skills by participation in a variety of competitive events. This year there were fourteen different contests including programming, video production, and podcasting. Up to three teams from each site, led by their teacher/coach came to compete in the 2009 tournament.
The tournament was originated by the Middle School Office and Information Technology in 2008 and is coordinated by the Instructional Technology & Innovation team from Curriculum and Professional Development. Support for the event comes from and supported by a number of major corporate sponsors, including Microsoft, Cisco, At&t, Western Blue, IVS Computer Technology and Hewlett Packard.
