The many benefits of maintaining student portfolios has up to this point been largely overshadowed by the logistics of maintaining and managing traditional paper or electonic portfolios without adequate student to computer access. This Digiport Project provides the mix of technology and teaching best practice to unbottle the power of portfolios.
The Digital Portfolio project brings together the right level of student access and flexibility. Small footprint HP Mini Note computers and wireless access allow teachers the freedom to fit the technology into their instruction, not the other way around. Within this setting, everyone interfaces with an enterprise Microsoft Sharepoint system where students and teachers interact via browser with their own MySite. It is this unique site which provides the environment for students to store and manage work, collaborate with peers, and publish portfolios from Kindergarten through Twelvth Grade that challenges the limits of traditional Digital Portfolios. |
